How to Find Us?

Blackrock Hospice is located on Sweetman's Avenue, Blackrock, Co. Dublin.

Blackrock DART Station is approximately 10/15 minutes walk from the Hospice. From the DART Station, walk to Main Street, turn left and walk to the junction with Idrone Avenue. Turn right and walk towards Carysfort Avenue. At the crossroads with the Blackrock by-pass cross over to the Carysfort Avenue side of the by-pass. Turn left down the by-pass and continue on to the end of the apartment block on your right side. Across the road you should see the Blackrock Garda Station. Turn right onto Sweetman's Avenue and the Hospice Gates are on your right (This access is not possible during the hours of 7:30am - 10:00am Monday to Friday, access is via Carysfort Avenue and Brookfield Terrace).

Visiting Times

Family and friends can visit at any convenient time during the day and leave at 9.00pm. The main gate closes at 9.00pm but security staff can admit visitors as special circumstances will be facilitated. Visitors are encouraged to involve themselves with the care of patients by taking them around the pleasant garden in summer, bringing them home, when possible, for short visits, and accompanying them on trips or outings arranged by the staff. Visitors are regarded as an important part of the patient's day and are very welcome.

For Health & Safety Reasons, all visitors must sign in at Reception when entering the building and sign out again when leaving.

The welfare of the patient must, however, always be taken into consideration. If the patient is likely to become upset or tired certain visiting restrictions may be imposed.

To avoid bringing infection into the building, visitors are asked not to visit if they are suffering from colds, flu or any infection.

Parking

Parking is very limited at Blackrock Hospice.

Some disc parking is available on Sweetman’s Avenue and there are two car parks in Frascati Shopping Centre and Blackrock Shopping Centre. Please check hourly parking rates in each shopping centre.

Restaurant

Our restaurant is open from 9.00am - 2.00pm. From 3.00pm - 4.30pm, a limited service applies.

The restaurant is open to use for visitors, patients, staff and members of the public. Tea/Coffee and snacks are available and lunch service commences at 12.30pm.

There are two vending machines located in the main restaurant area providing drinks, sandwiches and snacks.

Religious Services

The Chapel is open to patients and visitors at all times.

Mass is celebrated each Tuesday at 2.30pm and Holy Communion can be received daily.

Inter-denominational services are arranged on a regular basis.

Smoking Areas

A dedicated smoking room for patient use only is located in St. Therese’s Ward.

Visitors and staff may smoke in the designated smoking shelter in the car park.

Accommodation

Family accommodation is provided on a first come first served basis. Please ask the Nurse in charge of St. Therese's Ward for further details.
