General Hospice Information

Bus Service
There is a good bus service from the City Centre to the Hospice.
Bus routes: 16, 16A, 19A, 49A and 54.

Car Parking
Parking space is provided for visitors and staff. There is no charge at present for the use of these facilities.

Coffee Shop
There is a coffee shop open to all relatives and visitors in the hospital. This is run by Volunteers and is open from 10.00am to 7.30pm daily. (see also Restaurant)

Hairdressing
A fully equipped hairdressing salon in CARITAS (Palliative Care Unit) is available for patients, visitors and staff. The salon is open Tuesday to Friday from 10.00am to 5.00pm by appointment. The hairdresser will also visit the ward unit on request. – Will check if this is still the case - Lisa

Laundry
Patients bring their own pyjamas, nightdresses, bed jackets, dressing gowns, slippers and toiletries. The Hospice provides and launders all bed linen and towels. If possible, arrangements should be made to launder patients' personal clothing at home. However, if this is not possible, laundry services at the Hospice can be availed of, but all clothing must be clearly marked. Locker/wardrobe facilities are available for personal day clothing, if required.

Postal Service
Letters and parcels are delivered to the Wards on a daily basis. Letters may be posted in the letterbox in front of the Administration Office or, if you are restricted to your bed, the Ward Clerks will post your letters.  Only letters bearing a postage stamp will be mailed.

Reception
The reception desk located in the main Hospice building. They redirect all phone calls and deal with all visitor enquiries. The reception is open 7 days a week from 8.00am - 10.00pm.

Restaurant (see also Coffee Shop)
A restaurant is available for snacks and full meal service. It is open 7 days a week (See opening times below). Family and friends can accompany the patient to the restaurant where they can relax and enjoy each other's company. The ward manager must be informed before a patient leaves the ward. The staff will always help families to celebrate special occasions such as birthdays and wedding anniversaries.

Supper: 4:00pm - 6:00pm
Saturday - Sunday
Breakfast: 8.00am - 11.00am (Cooked breakfast from 9.00am)
Lunch: 12.30am - 2.30pm
Closed: 4:45pm
